Tournament information for this weekend’s Taom UK Women’s Snooker Championship is now available:

The 2024/25 World Women’s Snooker (WWS) Tour continues with the staging of the Taom UK Women’s Snooker Championship from this Friday at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds.

The prestigious event has been held in Leeds since 2015 and remains the second oldest recognised competition on the WWS Tour calendar.

The field will be headed by top seed Reanne Evans – record 12-time winner of the event, including the last four stagings – reigning world champion Bai Yulu and world number one Mink Nutcharut, while the in-form Ng On Yee will be looking to extend a streak that has seen her win three of the past four world ranking events on Tour.

Eight of the world’s top ten will be among a 37-strong field which also includes two-time English champion Rebecca Kenna, reigning Eden Masters champion Mary Talbot and three-time UK Championship winner Tessa Davidson.

Three players are set to make their Tour debut, with ten countries represented in all.

Alongside the main competition, there will also be side-tournaments held for both Seniors and Under-21 players, as well as a Challenge Cup competition staged on Sunday, for players already knocked out of the main competition prior to the quarter-finals.

The event will be sponsored for a third successive year by Taom Billiards, pioneers of the revolutionary Taom V10 chalk used by many snooker players around the world and our hosts at the Northern Snooker Centre.

Format

This weekend’s format will be as follows:

  • The top five players have been seeded into the last 16 (to begin Saturday evening, not Sunday morning as previously)
  • The remaining 32 players have been drawn into eight groups of four players
  • The top two players from each group will progress to the knockout stage
    • The best six group winners progress straight to the last 16
    • The remaining ten players will play a preliminary round match for the final five places
  • All qualifiers from the group stages will be positioned in the knockout draw according to group stage performance in line with our established qualifying criteria

Group matches will be played over the best of three frames, knockout rounds to provisionally be 5/5/7/7. If necessary the preliminary round matches may be shortened to 3 frames.

The format for all side-events will be straight knockout. All players not reaching the quarter-finals will be eligible for the Challenge Cup.
