Bio

Thailand’s Narucha Phoemphul made her breakthrough at the 2024 Australian Women’s Open as she reached her first ranking event semi-final.

Having topped her round robin group in Sydney with victories against seeded players Jessica Woods and Yee Ting Cheung, the 18-year-old defeated home players Theresa Whitten and Lilly Meldrum 3-1 in the knockout rounds to reach the last four stage for the first time on the World Women’s Snooker Tour.

Although she would lose out 4-0 to top seed Ng On Yee, the run was enough to see her jump 47 places to 26th position in the world rankings.

Known as ‘Jel’, the Thai player made her debut aged just 13 at the 2019 World Championship in Thailand, before returning to the Tour in 2023 at the World Championship and British Open competitions.

In March 2024, she reached the final of the World Under-21 Championship for the first time, losing out to China’s Bai Yulu in the title match.
