Thailand’s Mink Nutcharut has been honoured by the Sports Authority of Thailand as part of its 2022 National Sports Day awards.
The 23-year-old was recognised for the ‘best performance of 2022 for a women’s snooker player’ following a year which saw her lift three world ranking titles, including her first world title in Sheffield, England.
She also bookended the year with victories at the British Open and Eden Masters tournaments, notably becoming the first player ever to defeat both Reanne Evans and Ng On Yee during the same ranking tournament in Coulsdon.
She also notably reached the quarter-final rounds at the WPBSA Q Tour event staged in Leicester back in January, a first for a female player. Having subsequently joined the World Snooker Tour at the start of the 2022/23 season, she scored her first win as a professional against Mitchell Mann at the Northern Ireland Open qualifiers in August.
Among those present at the ceremony was Thai legend James Wattana, a three-time ranking event winner and former world number three on the World Snooker Tour.
