Tournament information for the Australian Women’s Open 2023 is now available:

The World Women’s Snooker (WWS) Tour continues from this weekend with its third ranking tournament of the season as the Australian Open will be held across four days from 7-10 October at the Mounties venues in Sydney.

Won last year by England’s Jamie Hunter, the tournament will once again welcome a varied field which will include former world champions Mink Nutcharut and Ng On Yee – both previous winners in Sydney – as well as leading Australian players including Lilly Meldrum and Jessica Woods.

As in previous years, there will be a Challenge Cup competition staged alongside the knockout rounds, for players already out of the main competition prior to the last eight.

Format

The format will be as follows:

  • The players have been drawn in four groups of a maximum of five players
  • The top two players from each group will progress to the knockout stage
  • All qualifiers from the group stages will be positioned in the knockout draw according to group stage performance in line with our established qualifying criteria

Group matches will be played over the best of five frames, knockout rounds to be /5/7/7.

The format for the Challenge Cup will be straight knockout.
