Scottish junior Sophie Nix will make her professional snooker debut at the 2024 Shoot Out after she was announced of one of eight WPBSA nominations for the world ranking event.
To be held at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester, the tournament will once again include 128 players and feature a unique set of rules, with all matches played over a maximum of ten minutes, and a shot clock of 15 seconds for the first five minutes and ten seconds for the last five.
Nix, who has been nominated as the current number one on the WWS World Women’s Snooker Under-21 rankings, will join female professionals Mink Nutcharut, Reanne Evans, Bai Yulu and Baipat Siripaporn in competing at the event.
The 16-year-old made her WWS Tour debut at the 2021 UK Championship and has since achieved a career-high world ranking of number 24, reaching the last 16 stage of a tournament for the first time at the 2023 Women’s Masters.
She won her first title at the same tournament as she claimed victory in the Under-21 competition in London and has reached a further four Under-21 finals to date. She also claimed the Challenge Cup title at the 2024 British Open earlier this year.
