The World Women’s Snooker (WWS) Tour will break new ground next January with the staging of its first ever event in Africa.

The inaugural Moroccan Women’s Open will run across six days from 18-23 January 2025 and will take place alongside snooker’s biggest international amateur competition the World Snooker Federation (WSF) Championships in Saïdia, Morocco.

All matches will be played at the fantastic Radisson Blu Resort, Saïdia Resort, which will also be the official hotel for the competition.

The world ranking event will be held in partnership with the WSF and Morocco Snooker, with side-tournaments for Under-21 and Seniors players, alongside a Challenge Cup tournament for players who do not qualify for the knockout rounds, to also be staged subject to entries.

The WWS Tour has regularly hosted tournaments alongside the WSF, most recently in Albania earlier this year when Hong Kong China’s Ng On Yee edged out Mink Nutcharut 4-3 to lift the title.

Mandy Fisher, WWS President said: “As we continue to expand the WWS Tour this announcement represents another significant breakthrough in our international development.

“We have met several players from the Africa region in recent years including African Games winner Yousra Matine and Hind Bennani, and I look forward to welcoming more players to the Tour in Saïdia.

“The venue looks to be incredible, and I would like to thank both the WSF and Morocco Snooker for their cooperation and support.”

Further information, including entry information will be published in due course.
