Tournament information for the Albanian Women’s Open is now available:
The World Women’s Snooker (WWS) Tour heads to Albania for the first time from Monday as the second ranking tournament of 2024 is staged at the Grand Blue Fafa Resort, Golem.
Just over a week after world number one Mink Nutcharut captured her seventh ranking crown of the season at the Belgian Women’s Open, a strong field featuring nine of the world’s top 12 players is set to contest the inaugural WWS title held in southern Europe.
Reigning world champion Siripaporn Nuanthakhamjan is set to make her first appearance of the year, alongside current Australian Open winner Ng On Yee and UK Champion Reanne Evans.
England’s Rebecca Kenna – back up to number four in the latest rankings – will continue her quest to claim her maiden Tour title, as well as Masters champion Mary Talbot.
Current British Open champion Bai Yulu will also return to competition for the first time since she finished as runner-up to Evans in Leeds last September.
Alongside the main competition, there will also be Under-21 and Seniors side-tournaments staged, as well as a Challenge Cup competition, for players already knocked out of the main competition prior to the quarter-finals.
The format will be as follows:
Group matches will be played over the best of three frames, knockout rounds to be 5/5/7/7. If necessary the preliminary round matches may be shortened to 3 frames
The format for all side-tournaments will be straight knockout.
