India’s Anupama Ramachandran made her debut on the World Women’s Snooker Tour at the 2023 World Cup event in Thailand where she claimed a sensational title victory alongside compatriot Amee Kamani.
Having progressed through their group stage at the team event, the pair defeated Thailand C, Thailand A and finally England A, represented by 12-time world champion Reanne Evans and world number four Rebecca Kenna, to lift the prestigious title.
Anupama continued her form into the subsequent World Women’s Snooker Championship, reaching the last 16 on her maiden appearance, before going on to defeat two-time defending champion Ploychompoo Laokiatphong to win the World Women’s Under-21 title at the Hi-End Snooker Club.
In August 2024, Anupama enjoyed her best finish to date in a world ranking event as she finished as runner-up to Ng On Yee at the US Women’s Open in Seattle.
The 22-year-old came through the field with notable victories against world number one Mink Nutcharut and fourth ranked Rebecca Kenna, before losing out to three-time world champion Ng in the title match.
Prior to her breakthrough run, Anupama had reached four consecutive quarter-finals at world ranking events, falling twice to Reanne Evans at the UK Championship and Belgian Open, followed by Nutcharut in Albania.
In March 2024, Anupama reached the quarter-finals of the World Women’s Snooker Championship for the first time, losing out to three-time champion Ng On Yee 4-1 in China.
