Tournament information for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Women’s Championship is now available:
The seventh World Women’s Snooker (WWS) ranking tournament of the season, the Asia-Pacific Women’s Championship begins on Tuesday at the Mounties Club in Sydney. The event will be the second of the season to be held at the venue following the Australian Women’s Open won by England’s Jamie Hunter last October.
There is a strong field set to contest the title, with former Australian Open champions and world champions Mink Nutcharut and Ng On Yee in action, while Ploychompoo Laokiatphong, Siripaporn Nuanthakhamjan, Ho Yee Ki, Jessica Woods and Lilly Meldrum are also among the seeded players.
For the first time, there will also be an Under-21 side-tournament held in Australia, with current number one ranked junior Ploychompoo Laokiatphong due to head a five-player field that also includes 14-year-old Meldrum, who Laokiatphong defeated in the final of last season’s World Under-21 Championship in Sheffield.
The format will be as follows:
Group matches will be played over the best of five frames, knockout rounds to be 5/5/7/7.
The format for all side-tournaments will be straight knockout.
