World Women’s Snooker (WWS) will return to Scotland for the first time in almost 20 years with the staging of the Scottish Women’s Open this October and entry is now open.
To be held at the Q Club in the heart of Glasgow, the world ranking tournament will feature the world’s best women players from 22-23 October and become one of the biggest events on the WWS Tour.
The event will include side-tournaments for Under-21 and Seniors players, in addition to a Challenge Cup competition for players who do not qualify for the final day.
WWS has held tournaments in Scotland on 11 previous occasions, with Belgium’s Wendy Jans having claimed the title most recently in 2003 with a 4-1 defeat of Maria Catalano in Edinburgh. Kelly Fisher has enjoyed the most success north of the border, having triumphed a record five times.
Mandy Fisher, WWS President said: “I am delighted that we can return to Scotland after such a long time for what is set to be a fantastic event in Glasgow.
“I would like to thank everyone who has supported the return of the tournament, including David Nix, our host Lake Sharma and his team at The Q Club, a historic facility that I am looking forward to visiting for the tournament.”
