Tournament information for this weekend’s The Winchester Women’s Open is now available:

The final World Women’s Snooker (WWS) ranking tournament of the season sees the Tour return to The Winchester Snooker Club in Wigston, Leicestershire, host of January’s British Women’s Open.

The tournament will see 34 of the world’s best women players contest the main title, with top three Reanne Evans, Ng On Yee and newly crowned world champion Nutcharut Wongharuthai all present for only the second time this season.

Also among those taking part will be Thailand’s Siripaporn Nuanthakhamjan – winner of the Women’s World Cup and World Championship semi-finalist on her previous Tour outing in June 2019,

There will also be side-tournaments held for our Under-21 and Seniors players, with Steph Daughtery and Chloe White set to play their final junior competitions before turning 21 over the summer.

Format

This weekend’s format will be as follows:

  • The top two ranked players have been seeded through to the last 16 stage on Sunday morning
  • The remaining 32 players have been drawn in eight groups of a maximum of four players
  • The top two players from each group will progress to the knockout stage
    • The best eight group winners and four best runner-ups will progress straight to the last 16
    • The remaining 4 players will play a preliminary round match on Saturday evening for the remaining two places
  • All qualifiers from the group stages will be positioned in the knockout draw according to group stage performance in line with our established qualifying criteria

Group matches will be played over the best of three frames, knockout rounds to be 5/5/5/7/7. If necessary the preliminary round matches may be shortened to 3 frames.

The format for all side-tournaments will be straight knockout.
