World Women’s Snooker (WWS) and the Australian Billiards and Snooker Council (ABSC) are today delighted to announce the return of the Australian Women’s Snooker Open to the calendar for the first time since 2019.
Previously cancelled due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the world ranking event is scheduled to make its return to the WWS Tour calendar from 1-4 October 2022.
The event will be organised by the ABSC with the support of WWS and will again be hosted by the Mt Pritchard District and Community Club, known as ‘Mounties’ in the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia.
Won by Hong Kong’s Ng On Yee (2018) and Thailand’s Nutcharut Wongharuthai (2019) on its previous stagings, the event has been proven popular with local and international players alike since its introduction to the WWS calendar.
The event has provided vital opportunities for women and girls from the Asia-Pacific region to compete on the WWS Tour and the event will be another significant milestone in the return to a fully international Tour following the suspension of competitions as a result of the pandemic. It remains the long-term ambition of WWS to build upon the event and work with partners to provide further competitions for players in the region over the coming years.
Further information about the event, including entry details will follow in due course.
